So I am at camp and the greatest moment of my life has just happened, I realize that God has not left me down here to do this ministry stuff all by myself. He is here with me and here to help me through the task He places before me. Next day at camp was such a good day, total in the camp was about 150 with all the kids and the help. So the very next day Pastor Chet decides that we are going to push the kids harder for the day and we were going to pray for a real move of God that night. The idea is that we push the body of a person to exhaustion and the spirit is able to come alive. It really does work, so anyway we get through the day and the kids are completely worn out, dinner comes and then we had a 20 minute rest time. Good rest we needed it, who am I kidding, I needed it. Then 3 or 4 van loads of inner city kids show up and unload into the chapel. See these were kids from Pittsburgh that could not afford to go to camp. So they brought them to camp that night for chapel, good deal. Well the whistle goes off for chapel time and the place is packed, I mean standing room only. My cabin is sitting 3rd row from the front this time, all the seats are taken. So chapel time starts a few points things for teams were given and then we have a time of praise and worship. Probably 2 or 3 songs in and all of a sudden the most amazing thing happened, I felt Him come into the room. Jesus Christ in Spirit actually walked into the room. How do I know you might ask? Well let me tell you, the door to the chapel was in the back of the room the Presence of God walked through the door and up the center isle, as He walked in, the bodies began to fall, people were crying and speaking in tongues (which I had not at this point experienced). Row by row they fell to their knees. I turned and watched them go down like dominoes. When the presence of God hit my row we went down. I mean to tell you I knew the living God at that very moment in my life. He was holy, just, and King. No flesh would stand in His presence, and none did. It hit the stage and the team was on the ground, Pastor Chet alone was able to continue to play guitar. He made several altar calls that night I mean to tell you there were things that these kids were holding on to that would shake the core of any person and God that night was God to them. One of the best services I had ever been involved in and privileged to experience.
Please understand that up to this point, I loved the Lord and Saviour that I had, but the real tangible encounter like this was something that was lacking. This built a reverence in me for His Kingly side. The side that sometimes in the extended mercy and all covering grace of God gets overlooked. The thing about it was that even though He put everyone on there knees, and I mean everyone was on their knees (when He said every knee will bow, He meant it) He was the forgiving, healing, and loving King to make things right in their souls. And that my friends is the perfect love of Christ.
